Tranny Holes 101
This is a manual transmission from a '98 EX civic, shown as if viewing it from the passenger side:

Here's a closer view of the holes in question:

Meet Amber, she's my super sexah assistant:

Before you trip out, I like to first start off by saying that Amber can do crazy sh*t with her toes and for this demonstration she will use her french tipped little piggies to point to the holes you need to know about:

^^^This will be closest to the fender and above where the drain bolt is. DO NOT UN-DO THIS BOLT...it's used to take the tranny apart.
^^^I didn't notice at first that Amber's fat A$$ is blocking the view but following the trend that Ambers toes point the way:

^^^You'll see here the tranny "Drain Bolt" . This takes a 3/8 ratchet to loosen. Make sure you have something to catch the oil.
Another view of the "Drain Bolt":

And another close-up:

^^^This small bolt is on the very bottom of the tranny just to the right and below of the axle.
Here Amber's angel toes are pointing to where the passenger side axle would be (I did have an axle I could have stuck there but this time you'll have to use your imagination). Oh and Amber's left hand is actually over top of the "Filler Bolt" which is next.

Just look at her seductive eyes...grrr! I mean follow her legs to the "Filler Bolt":

^^^This bolt is used to refill the tranny and takes a 17mm wrench/socket. It will be on the left side of the axle and slightly up from where the "drain bolt" is. This bolt is easier to reach from the top IMHO.
While Draining I will loosen the "Filler Bolt" to help fully drain the tranny. After the system is drained I'll get a long flexable funnel and I'll hold the funnel end inside of the "Filler Hole" from the bottom while I have Amber or whoever "slowly" poors fluid down the funnel from above. At this time I'll still have the "Drain Plug" out untill fluid starts to flow out of it, then I'll plug it quickly and have Amber stop pooring the oil. Retorque the both bolts, clean up any oil dropped/spilled, do Amber doggy, and done.
Some people use the VSS hole to refill the tranny fluid but I think it's stupid.
One more thing since I'm doing this....:
